Babies & Bright Colors!!!

I had a very special request for a baby shower that I was more than happy to honor. Since they didn't know the gender of the baby they wanted neutral colors along with decorations and customized babycakes! We did cupcake toppers to spell out "Munchkin" along with a jumbo babycake that had its own toppers to spell out "Congrats". I decided to make the toppers a DIY project and it was easier than I expected! Carrot cake was the other choice and they loved it!

Spring is HERE!!!!!

 Spring is officially here and we are excited!!! With seasons there comes change and we're excited to announce a change to our menu. We are seeing pink!! Pink velvet babycakes are now available and have replaced our red velvet ones. Don't fret, same EXACT interior, just an different exterior. :-)

Shhhh.....Adults Only!!!!!

The holidays inspired me with this very appropriate (and seasonal) combination. I teamed up with a friend of mine who made some amazing peppermint homemade ice cream and we ended up with a dynamic duo!! This is a dark chocolate babycake with a peppermint schnapps butter cream frosting topped with of course...crushed candy canes!!!

Seeing Red!!!

This lovely cake is perfect ALL year round. It didn't used to be on the menu for many different reasons but it was in so much demand that I had to do it and boy am I glad I did!! Welcome to the world of red velvet. I can assure you that this is different from anything you've tasted...and I can't tell you why. :-) Red velvet cake with a vanilla bean cream cheese frosting to DIE for!!!!

October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month and since Bake Sweet Love is a supporter of cooking for a cure we decided to do so for a birthday party/fundraiser. This was absolutely amazing. "37 Shades of Pink" was the theme and I had the pleasure of catering the desserts. We of course went with 3 different shades of pink frosting. There was a lemon with raspberry buttercream, mocha with a vanilla bean buttercream and a chocolate with strawberry buttercream. This was not only a birthday party but a fundraiser for the Native American Cancer Research Foundation. I'm proud to also say that Bake Sweet Love donated a portion of the proceeds toward the foundation. Baking for a great cause is always a win win.

Spring Forward!!

It's officially Spring and while we're still waiting on consistent beautiful weather, we are celebrating all of the beauty of what Spring has to offer!!! There are changes to our menu from the Fall/Winter but don't worry! I'm sure you'll love what the Spring/Summer Menu has to offer. St. Patty's Day meets Girl Scouts!!

Last month we celebrated St. Patrick's Day and in my quest to be the ultimate hostess, I threw a little shindig. In the spirit of the holiday I decided to make Mint Chocolate Chip Babycakes. Since I used to be a Girl Scout and my wonderful Niece Cadence is one as well, I thought I'd put a twist on the traditional babycake on our menu. These are a dark chocolate babycakes with chocolate chips topped with a mint butter cream frosting. I decided to place crumbles of Thin Mint cookies and top it off with the cookie itself. They were definitely a hit!! Enjoy!

Kahlua & Creme

These Kahlua & Creme babycakes were done today for a special Girls Night Out Birthday party. A Kahlua soaked dark chocolate cake with a Kahlua butter cream frosting topped with chocolate drizzle. I know right??? Enjoy!

Wild Thing

A few weeks ago I was elated to receive an order for a baby shower in honor of a girlfriend of mine. The theme was pink and zebra stripes for her baby girl who will be making her debut soon. :-) I was ready for some hot pink frosting and zebra cupcake liners. The request was a little different. Well, a lot...I had to incorporate pink and zebra all on a babycake!! Needless to say it was not an easy task but it sure was fun!! I kept it simple with just a lemon butter cream frosting and vanilla bean babycake. They went over really well! Adults and kids alike!!

Fall Features

The

weather is changing and so is our menu! We are welcoming the Winter with wide open arms and have the spices to prove it! This season is fun because there is a lot of fun to be had with snowballs and snow angels! (oh and flavors :-) As a winter baby myself, I have a special fondness of this time of year.

This is the first year that the menu is switching its wardrobe for the Fall/Winter season and I'm confident you will absolutely LOVE it! Warm flavors like cinnamon and nutmeg along with exciting ones like pomegranate and cranberry are sure to please. Make sure to check us out on the Bake Sweet Love website!!

Bake Sweet Love had the honor of being asked to do an event "Black Benefactors Celebrates Giving" on August 26th. It was to celebrate their appearance in the August '11 issue of Ebony magazine. The Black Benefactors Organization is a group that create a giving circle to pool resources to support local nonprofit organizations in the Washington D.C, Maryland and Virginia area. They educate members about the benefits of collective philanthropy in order to enhance the well-being of Black children, families and youth in the D.C area.

One of my good friends Jovette reached out to me to do the event. I did sweet bites, a mini version of babycakes. These are the perfect bite size treat. Not an entire babycake but just enough to satisfy your sweet tooth. Vanilla sweet bites with chocolate buttercream frosting and chocolate sweet bites with vanilla buttercream frosting . Enjoy!!

Accessories Necessary

I came across this CUTE necklace from Etsy. What I love most about it is that its different from your traditional cupcake necklace. It's a layered necklace and these are actually mini measuring spoons and a muffin pan!!! I will tell you that died when I saw them. The beauty of baking is the exact science of it all, combined with the patience. The measuring spoons are the epitome of baking because if its not exact, its not right. I also love it because baking isn't about just cupcakes and while I do LOVE babycakes, they're not the only treats that I make. There are other adorable cupcake inspired trinkets but this by far takes the cake! (pun intended) Check out the link and enjoy!
