Wild Thing

A few weeks ago I was elated to receive an order for a baby shower in honor of a girlfriend of mine. The theme was pink and zebra stripes for her baby girl who will be making her debut soon. :-) I was ready for some hot pink frosting and zebra cupcake liners. The request was a little different. Well, a lot...I had to incorporate pink and zebra all on a babycake!! Needless to say it was not an easy task but it sure was fun!! I kept it simple with just a lemon butter cream frosting and vanilla bean babycake. They went over really well! Adults and kids alike!!

Two Is the Magic Number

It's been a WHILE to say theleast since I've posted and A
LOT haschanged!! My last post was about a Baby Cake by the name
of Mali who celebrated his 1st birthday. Well, I thought it only fitting to follow up with the next one! (He's gotten soo big!) This year the birthday boy's theme was ELMO!!
I really wanted to make it special so I took a giant leap and designed a single Elmo babycake.
I was inspired (of course) by my mom who customized all (four) of our birthday cakes every single year. (An amazing woman she is.) This was my very first attempt and I must say with no formal training, I did pretty ok! I also made a simple lemon babycake with lemon buttercream frosting topped with red sprinkles and little Elmo candies.

Everybody seemed to have a blast. Adults too!!! Even got a giant hug from the birthday boy! Good times had by all.

Lumiere Rouge

My sister and her husband decided to throw a fantastic Halloween soiree. It was exclusive and very, very fun. Lumiere Rouge (Red Light) was the theme. They decided to do a sexy theme instead of a scary one. Of course a party wouldn't be a party without baby cakes!!! (black) Chocolate baby cakes with black swirled vanilla cream cheese frosting and (orange) lemon baby cakes with (orange) lemon butter cream frosting and black sprinkles. I thought it would be fun to be a killer bee with a weapon of a rolling pin! ha! We did a cute little swarm of different bees. What a blast!!!!

Celebrate Good Times!!

In May, there were a lot of celebrations and festivities. After lots of hard work and dedication, one of our dear friends graduated from medical school. Shortly after, he had a birthday so we decided to host a small gathering to celebrate him. This was an intimate and informal get together so there wasn't a huge spread. I did manage to make something sweet. (of course, a party isn't a party unless there's cake!) His favorite color is blue so I created my own blue sugar sprinkles to top off the baby cakes. Although we are all grown ups, you're never too old to have fun and youthful things! These were a lemon & lime baby cake with lemon & lime zest butter cream frosting.
